Frequently asked

Questions we hear often.

How long does trademark registration take in India?

+

End-to-end: 18–24 months if uncontested. The application is examined within 12 months of filing. If no objection or opposition arises, registration is granted within 6 months of acceptance. Opposed applications take longer.

Can I use ™ before my trademark is registered?

+

Yes. The ™ symbol indicates a claim of trademark rights and can be used from the date of application. The ® symbol may only be used after the trademark is officially registered.

What is a Well-Known Mark and how is it beneficial?

+

A "Well-Known Mark" under Section 11 is one that is known to a substantial segment of the public. Once declared well-known, it gets cross-class protection — preventing registration of identical or similar marks in all classes, not just yours.
